I'm learning to job of being a test Secretary for the Newfoundland club. The job of a test Sec. is to send in the test applications to NCA, make/send premium list, take enteries, make the catalog, do paper work on test day, send paper work in to NCA after the test. It's a very important job, bcause the Secretary is the person who makes sure that everything goes on as planed. If the Sec forgets to send in paper work or sends in late then the test will not be held- meaning lots of angry people. Right now, I'm just learning the job. Our club only has five tests a year, two draft tests and three water tests. I am shadowing for the upcoming Draft Test in April. I will be co-secretary for the September water tests, and I am the SECRETARY for the 2010 Spring draft test. I hope I do a good job. There are lots of rules to follow, lots of paper work, lots of important dates. I'm going to be pretty busy until the end of April. Not only learning to be test sec, but I'm planning on entering Lex in the Gold Rush Cluster shows for April 2,3,4. I haven't decided if we're doing all three days. I hope we'll walk away with at least ONE leg, if we're really good, TWO! On April 5th Lex & I will be entered at the Draft test, hoping for a second requal. With roughly two months before the shows I'm practicing with Lex every day. We're doing obedience, jumps, retrieving, drop on recall, and other stuff for OpenA. I'm starting to do some draft again too since he's not done a draft test in over a year! We're both in need of getting back into shape for the shows so we're jogging or biking each day on top of all the practice. On April 27th thru May 3rd I'm hoping to fly with Lex to MI for the National Specialty show. I've already got my plane ticket at a very nice price of $259 round trip! Right now it's still up in the air if we're going or not, I've got my fingers crossed. It'll be Lex's first time on a plane and it'll be awesome to go to MI for the first time. And besides, it's the NCA National, there will be the most beautiful Newfs from all over the world gathered in one place! What could be better than that? |
